Adult Basic Education (ABE)
We serve adults who read below the 12th grade level with a variety of tutoring and classroom instruction. We help adults improve their skills in reading, writing, and math. This helps them further their goals in post-secondary education, job training, and employment.
We offer free, confidential training for those 16 years and older who are not enrolled in public school and who wish to obtain their high school diploma. The High School Equivalency diploma opens the doors to post secondary education and further training. Most employers require a minimum of a high school diploma, or its equivalent, which we offer.

English Language Learners (ELL)
Currently Literacy Bitterroot provides classes for English Language Learners (ELL), previously ESOL. For non-native English speakers we provide classroom training to enhance their ability to speak in English. We also help improve English reading and writing skills.

We distribute new books to approximately 175 children at Ravalli Head Start in Hamilton and Stevensville three times a year. Each child chooses their own book and takes it home to be read aloud over and over. The Bitterroot Kiwanis and other local donors provide funding for this project. This is one way we advertise our services to families with children in Head Start.
PEP stands for Personal Employment Plan. It is designed to assist people with career exploration, education planning, and job search preparation. PEP utilizes the Montana Career Information System (MCIS)—a powerful online tool designed for exploring your career options.
